CRAFTY GATHERER | BROADFORK PRO

This broadfork was made for work.

The type of work that leaves you sweaty, satisfied and more in tune with the land. No noise, no fuel - just you and the earth working together to break new ground, a tool that feels good in your hands and even better in the soil.

This tool is a game-changer to help improve drainage, airflow, and root development, all while protecting soil structure. At the heart of good gardening is healthy soil, our broadforks have strong, tapered tines; using your body weight you can drive the tines in, then pull back on the bar to gently lift and aerate the soil without disturbing its structure (no turning over!). It's efficient, effective, and easy on the body.

Handcrafted in New Zealand.

More Information

We offer two sizes to suit different garden needs, soil types, body strength, and space. This is our larger size. Engineered, tested, and trusted by us since 2013, our broadforks are made from high-strength steel and unbolt into three pieces for easy transport and storage. The steel construction (including the handles) makes them incredibly durable and effective, no flex, just power where you need it.

Even in no-dig gardens that have been sheet-mulched, a broadfork is a great way to aerate and bring structure to the soil once beds are established. Soil needs oxygen and in our annual vegetable beds, we ask a lot of the soil, so making sure we are adding compost and helping with compaction is key to keeping your garden thriving.

Optional Add-On:
Monkey bars ($50 extra) – ergonomically designed to reduce wrist strain and improve leverage. Highly recommended (check out the video below to see them in action!).

Size

630mm wide with six 450mm tines
1.2m handles

Care Instructions

Clean after use – Give it a quick hose down or brush off any soil. If it’s really caked on, a blunt knife or wire brush works wonders.

Dry it properly – Wipe it down or let it air dry before storing to prevent rust.

Store it right – Keep it in a dry spot. If it's stored outside, consider a cover or shed.

Check the bolts –
If you’ve taken it apart for transport, give the bolts a quick tighten now and then.
