The Utility Sickle is the smaller, scrappier sibling of our Stainless Steel Toothed Harvesting Sickle. Same toothed edge, same effortless cutting action through anything fibrous - just shorter and easier to tuck into a bucket, bag, or back pocket when you're heading out to the garden.

Plants, small dead branches, twine, rope - this little tool is completely unbothered by whatever you throw at it. The toothed blade cuts cleanly through fibrous material without tearing or dragging, making short work of jobs that would have you reaching for three different tools otherwise.

Small enough to take anywhere. Useful enough to always come with you.

Care Instructions

A well looked after sickle will last you years - and honestly, they're not fussy. Just a few simple habits and this tool will be with you for the long haul.

After each use
Wipe the blade clean and dry it off before putting it away. Sap, soil and moisture are the enemy of any blade - a quick wipe takes ten seconds and saves you a lot of grief later.

Removing sap and gunk
If the blade is sticky with sap or plant residue, a small amount of food-grade oil on a cloth will lift it off easily. Don't let it build up - it makes the blade less effective and harder to clean over time.

Sharpening
Sharpen the blade every few months or whenever you notice it isn't cutting as cleanly as it used to. A fine grit whetstone works well - sharpen from the back of the blade, working with the curve. You don't need to do this often - just when it needs it.

Storage
Store somewhere dry. If you're leaving it for a while, a light wipe with oil on the blade before storing will keep rust at bay.
